After leaving job seekers allowance after 6 months of claiming, does anyone know how long before the grant comes through after your final sign?

I have been on incapacity benefit for 2 years. I have had a social medical where i was told it would be very hard to work. According to benefits office i am not intitled to DLA due to being able to make a meal for myself although a family meal is difficult. Does anyone have any suggestions where or who i could talk to in order to make some sense.

I was on IB for 5 months & when I returned to work for more than 16 hours per week, I rec'd a letter & a form to fill in regarding the grant, it took around 2 weeks from sending the form back to recieving the grant. Its between £100-£250 and I got £250, I think it all depends on your circumstances.

anklebiter I'm afraid the meal test is correct, if you can cook for yourself you're not seen as needing care in that area. If you need supervised while cooking (i.e. epileptic and might have a seizure with no warning) or you are weak and might drop hot pots on yourself then reapply and add that information to the form.
