I was in the middle of saying "I don't know yet because I'm not sure of the individual prices of each product as it's not shown on my screen' and was ready to void the transaction so I could check when she laughed sarcastically and said "well I suggest you'd better find out."
Because I saw her credit card before she asked me, I had already put the transaction to payment. When she saw my screen she got angry and said "Oh, you've already done it! Right" and pushed her card into the slot despite the fact I was going to void it. She then looked at me nastily and said angrily "Look, you don't seem to know what you're doing," to which I tried to explain it's easier if you tell the SA at the start of teh transaction if you want to redeem but she protested angrily saying "I did! I did tell you." In the end I just apolagised to not offend her further but she really ruined my day with her attitude.
I don't work in Boots but I am a sales assistant and work on the tills for another company.
Sometimes I'm completely gobsmacked by some people's downright rudeness and arrogance. I'm pretty good at keeping my cool with them though (years of practice in retail) and this sometimes seems to get right up their nose even more, lol.
I try not to let it get at me too much and have a right giggle about them in the staff room.
I had a customer the other day who was buying a drink and sandwich which came to £3.49. I told him that if he gets a pack of crisps as well it would work out 50p cheaper as we do a 'meal deal' offer (sandwich, drink, crisps for £2.99). He was having none of it and was saying 'well I don't want crisps' to which I said but it'll cost you less if you get them even if you don't eat them. He said ' well I don't like them and I won't eat them' so I said again even if you throw them away it'll save you money. I give in and let him waste his money secretly thinking to myself 'what an idiot'. I was trying to do him a favour but maybe I shouldn't bother in future, lol.
The other thing is that we are expected by our bosses to sell up with every sale which I hate but if we don't do it we can into big trouble especially if we get caught out by a mystery shopper (we have one at least once a week). But some customers are downright rude if we try this and say stuff along the lines of 'If I'd have wanted anything else I'd have brought it, wouldn't I'. I understand that it can be annoying but we're only trying to do our job and a simple 'no, thank you' would suffice.
OK I'll shut up now as this has gone completely off topic and has turned into a rant. Hope everyone is having fun Bootsing today
Edited to add: We do have some really lovely customers though who can brighten up the shift. I'm sure all of you lovely ladies are like this. It's just some days you seem to get all of the grumpy ones. I'm not looking forward to this Easter weekend for instance, it'll be manic.

I was going to go there today but decided to stay in and do housework  . I lost my wedding ring in the house on Friday and can't find it anywhere so I was hoping to find it after a good tidy up. No luck though, I'm gutted, we've only been married 4 months!

On the subject of returning .com stuff to Boots:
I emailed CS last year as the SA refused to do it for me, and this was the response:
Thank you for contacting us about returning items from a boots.com order to one of our stores.
All but the very smallest corner chemist stores (including our Alliance chemist stores) should be able to process a refund for a Boots.com order. If you would be so kind as to let us know which store you went to, I can check for you and we can contact the store on your behalf. I am most sorry for any inconvenience caused to you.
I carry a copy of this email with me when I want to return stuff in case the staff aren't willing to do it. Never been refused since!!!
I have only ever had my "normal" points deducted as the delivery note doesn't specify any bonus points. Most of the time they haven't even asked for my AC.;)0
