Advice Please

Hi,

OH has a chance of a new job. It involves picking up leaflets & papers from depot and dropping them off at peoples houses. Am sure this will mean a change in insurance from fully comp to light domestic? / business?

Trying to get a quote is a minefield. Is anyone else doing this sort of work & can advise us or has anybody else any advice please.

Regards
Farquar

You will need business use added to the policy, you might see the cover you require called 'Class1 business use'. Of course you have to disclose the new occupation also.

Social, domestic and pleasure / social, domestic and pleasure and commuting use is NOT sufficient for the use you have outlined

[BTW, the extent of cover for your car (comprehensive, TPFT, TPO) is a separate issue from the use that the policy allows].

this should really come under nothing more than class 1 business use (to and from different places of work) which your OH should just be able to add on to their current insurance. Worth double checking also about the stock as most private insurers wont cover what is being carried so a separate insurance would prob be required for that.
  • Hi

You would most definitely need to specify business use.

If you search for quotes on-line, select the 'business use' option and if you search for quotes over the telephone fully explain the circumstances to the insurance agent.

It's really not worth cutting corners to get your insurance cheaper because in the event of an accident they may refuse to pay out if you don't have the right cover.

    Hope this helps somewhat.
