Hi, I don't know if i'm in the right forum so if anyone knows a better one feel free to move the post.
I'm just about to launch my new internet business, and will be relaunching my other one. Essentially I need a way of taking phone/internet payments. It doesnt matter about face to face payments, I dont need a card terminal as such just an online way of taking the payment.
Does anyone have advice on the best way to go about it and who to use, I wont use paypal or google, my site will be a ecommerce site that I need to have a merchant that customers will trust and feel credible but be affordible. I'd need it to take payments for both sites.
Who do you recceommend and any idea of fees (i've looked hard into this and it's overwhelming!)
Many thanks in advance , lou

You need a business account - they will arrange for you to speak to their card services people - but you will require a terminal to process the payments.
You will be required to pay rent on this and a % of the monies going through on the cards.0 -
Sorry - confused - are you looking to take the payments yourself? Or are you looking for a third party who will take them for you?0

Best people to speak to are the people who put your ecommerce site together - they should have a standard procedure to get you a merchant ID and to integrate the credit card payment functionality.
Have you put the website together yourself using something like Frontpage?
Your best bet would be to contact a local techie company, if you're near the East Kilbride area I can recommend a great one. Speak to your Local Development Agency and they'll be able to put you in touch with someone who can support new start companies."A child of five could understand this. Hi all. Many thanks for the replies.
Firstly, i'm based in bolton. I already have a business account.
I've had the site proffessionally done, my web guy has given names of plug ins he can do easily... " I can do all the big ones easily like HSBC(I hear they are expensive), Protx, Worldpay, Nochex, Streamline (now use Protx), RBS (now Protx) and Lloyds (now Protx) or go through your bank. "(web guy)
However he's leaving the decision making up to me, i'm looking at the pros and cons and need to know anyones opinions of whats best.
I just need a way of getting paid for mail order payments primarily, dont mind how, i'm not sure whether to use an all in one like worldpay or to use a seperate merchant. As far as I was aware you dont have to have a terminal as you can do it online somehow without having a physical card machine which wouldn't get used.
cheers in advance, lou
