Billed for off peak meter but dont have one... eh?

I recently moved into my new house and inherited the gas and electricity accounts from the old owner. Luckily for me they happened to be with npower (said without a hint of sarcasm honest :rotfl:)

They managed to get my gas bill sorted first time but messed up my electricity and didnt bill me for 4 months.

I recently sorted this by phone or so I thought... I have now received an electricity bill from 13/11/07 to 02/01/08 which i make about 2 months for £140. Seems a bit high really but that isnt the main point...

On the bill I have a breakdown with two tables. One for the standard meter and one for the off peak meter. The standard meter charge is £38 and the off peak meter is £77... BUT WE DONT HAVE AN OFF PEAK METER! Where could they have got this information from? In the cupboard there is an old meter with one set of numbers and that is it.

Can anyone suggest what I should do as it seems very dodgy asking them to remove this from my invoice.

Does your meter have a little button somewhere on the front?

If it does see if pressing it brings up a different set of numbers, try pressing it a few times.
Mine is just like a normal meter but the button gives me access to the different readings for night rate, day rate and the total.

No buttons whatsoever! I did phone up npower though and the lad on the other end asked me about finding buttons about 10 times. There really arent any buttons to press only one line of numbers and a spinning disc. It looks ancient :rotfl:

Theyre sending out an engineer next Thursday to have a look. Hopefully they will sort something out...
