Out of all the supermarkets I've used, I've found Asda are the most stingiest when reducing food items, 50p on higher priced items seems to be their limit, so never any bargains to be had there.

In my local Sainsbury's last week I got 4 fresh salmon steaks for 10p, 2 fresh Tuna steaks 10p, 2 scotch eggs 10p, wardolf salad 10p & a 6 pack of fromage fraise 10p. I was well chuffed. I'd only gone in there for some milk & bread & came out up feeling like a cat who'd got the cream ! A whole lot of extra goodies for just 50p. I've never seen such bargains as this before, generally their reduced stuff is marked down at half price. :)
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I think Sainsburys are the best in relation to reductions but it annoys me that they hand it to the staff first. I think Asda are so cheap anyway they dont reduce theirs by much. We had one built just up the road and I live next to Sainsburys and used to be in there day in and day out but thanks to Asda and MSE not anymore although I am considering shopping onling at Tesco which I used to go 5 miles to when they changed the Sainsburys store next door but that Tesco became a superstore and I couldnt be bothered to walk round it anymore!.

Our local Asda doesn't even reduce stuff until the day AFTER the "best-before" date - very stingy indeed, but quite legal, as it's not a sell-by or use-by date.

I work for Sainsbury's and can say that there are only two occasions where staff are offered reduced items. That is when things such as Produce haven't sold and it is pre-packed and still in good condition (if there is a lot of one particular product), and also if something has had to be removed from sale to customers.

I know that my store doesn't want anything to be thrown away, and would rather take 10p for something than throw it away.

Still doesn't hide the fact that a few weeks ago I threw away £500 worth of produce in one night that hadn't sold that was out of date. Good job I'm not a shareholder.

Well I am not sure how is happens that the staff have handfulls of reduced items in the poole store before it goes on sale to customers all the time not just now and again.
