Help: how do I get MBNA to remove incorrect data?

in Credit cards
In early 2006 I started receiving debt recovery letters for a debt on an MBNA card. I have never applied or owned such a card. After contacting MBNA, Link Financial the debt collection company, Equifax, The Commissioners Office and my MP, in 2007 I received letters confirming this debt would be removed as someone had fraudulently applied for a card using my personal details. A few weeks ago I was refused a remortgage and when checking my credit file, I find there is a £5000 default from 2006 on an MBNA credit card. I have contacted MBNA (including the CEO) and have not received any response or apology. I don't know who to contact next! Thanks.

Write to all the CRAs asking them to include a note of correction in your credit file. Include copies of the correspondence that you have demonstrating that the MBNA debt is not your responsibility, and ask them to add this evidence to your note of correction.
And go back to the office of the Information Commissioner to complain about MBNA. Their failure to correct the information they hold about you constitutes a breach of the data protection act, so we can reasonably expect enforcement action to be taken against them.0 -
MBNA are not behaving correctly. If the transaction was shown to be a fraudulent entry they are obliged to remove it from your Credit File.
I would put some pressure on MBNA to do this and threaten them with the ombudsman if they are not helpfull. I think once you speak to the right person at MBNA they will do this for you. Good Luck.0
