I debated this myself by doing it on ebay but decided against it.
To be fair they dont make much money any way.

I can't see how I would be disqualified - I have already done all the work, passed the exam and have a certificate to prove it. As far as i'm aware there is nothing they can do if someone else reads my work - tbh if they did it would be VERY easy to have lots of peoples grades stripped by guessing passwords etc.
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.
  • What is illegal is the person who buys your essay plagiarising a) specific quotes b) paraphrased ideas c) the whole damn thing and passing it off as their own. There's nothing criminal about selling your work, however I think you can safely say that whoever buys it will not just use it for research purposes, and even if they do they still have to reference it.

This is the main reason why exams always take presidence over coursework and could never be removed from the curriculum. Plagiarism will always be rife, however if you want the honest truth I dont think GCSE papers would be that valuable anyway since the standard (even for an A*) is very low and the people likely to be buying papers are undergrads.

As for private tutoring, I'm guessing your an A level student or something? Again, I dont think anyone would part with good money to be taught by someone who is only doing A levels themselves. I'm about to graduate with, all being well a 1st from uni, and I would only charge £6-7 an hour to tutor with a valid teaching certificate or understanding of the syllabus

    Hi Jakg,

I have a different view on this. I got As too, and a first class honours. I worked really hard to research my papers which is why I was rewarded with my grades, and why you were too. Why on earth would we want to make it easy for someone with plenty of money to buy a good grade? They should be willing to put in the same amount of work as we did IMHO.

  • Anyway, if your essays are that good why not sell them to a magazine so that we can all read them?

:rotfl: Are you being serious? Who in their right mind would even waste their time reading a GCSE essay for publishing? :rotfl:

  • There is also no proving that you wrote your essay int he first place, so if someone found your essay online you would have some convincing to do that it was you who wrote and sold it, and that you didnt also buy it online. You would need handwritten evidence/planning/bibliography and even then they might think you've bought it as well!

I don't think selling your work is immoral as some have said. If you have referenced other sources correctly and give your own views then it is fine. The people who use this just have a different insight to the topic and it's up to them if they decide to copy. When completing essays at UNI you are told to only reference 'peer reviewed journals' as these are the best source. Just think of these essays as non peer reviewed sources just as the internet is or Wikipedia. I have made £ on e-bay from these but many people now use other sources.
