There are a number of options, first one is try phoning the firm you bought the plate off and see what they would buy it back for but i don't think it would be much more than £100 to £150. Second option is to see if the number plate firm would sell it on your behalf and take a cut from the sale
Other options include an advert in exchange and mart and the autotrader both of which have number plate sections or you could just whack it up on ebay0 -
Thanks I paid 600.00 with the dot fee of 80.00.. have just telephoned regtransfers.co.uk, where i brought it and they are going to e mail me a price they will pay me and they sell it for more and keep the difference. But an ad in exchange and mart first would not go amiss so thanks for that. As for e bay.. never been on it and would not know where to start.. hear so many rip off stories.. don't really want to go there.0

I have a private plate which is still on a car I sold to a relative, it's been on the market for about 4 years with one of the reg transfer companies which advertise in the weekend papers without a sniff of interest. Fortunately I am not bothered whether it sells or not, I just don't have a car of my own to put it on at the moment. I think the problem is that it isn't a very special plate, it's got a letter, one number and my three initials, it doesn't spell a name or anything, a similar plate is about £250 (I think) from DVLA and the company selling it are looking for about £699 with £250 plus for them.
If it's only special to you it might not go for as much as you paid for it.0 -
I would have a go at sticking it up on Ebay, you can always put a reserve on it if you don't want to let it go for peanuts.
