Boots the Opticians - beware

I recently scratched one lens of a new pair of glassess. I was expecting that the single lens could be replaced but no Boots wanted to replace both. A message received from their customer care department states -
"
I am sorry to hear of the inconvenience you are being caused now that we do not replace single lenses. This is a relatively recent change that is the result of an agreement Boots now has with our supplier. I have however passed your comments onto our optician?s team for information."
Suffice to say I will be taking my business elsewhere.
If I had paif the £20 pa insurance I would have been OK. One breakage in thirty years does not appear to be a very good deal to me however.

if only one lens is scratched then it can be replaced singularly - if it is photochromic both lenses need to be replased as reactions may differ - also tinted lenses need to be replased in pairs as it is very dificult to match exactly!!!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

Thanks for the information sillyvixen. The lens is neither photochromatic or tinted so I should find better service at another optician. Retrictions such as these I could understand, rather it is a case of Boots and its supplier not being ar**d.0
