Stamp duty threshold being raised today...
Comments
-
tie stamp duty to council tax bands - it's the only fair way to make sure that you are paying similar tax on similar properties nationwide0
-
The council tax itself is not fair, so how stamp duty based on council tax could be fair?Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
-
The fairest option would be to abolish stamp duty altogether.
More chance or Michael Barrymore becoming King of England though.0 -
god i really hope so... its annoying having that barrier there... we could afford to borrow up to about 260k or 270k but there's no point really buying anything between 250k and 280k, since it puts £5000 extra on the bill. it's so frustrating.0

morg-monster i totally agree they need to do something with stamp duty we are trying to sell our house and have the same issues as you because of this very subjectThe average woman would rather have beauty than brains,
because the average man can see better than he can think.
Many people's view of the world is down to their experience, perception and what they have been conditioned to,this isnt any old MSE reply this is a important and experienced MSE reply :rotfl:0 -
Anyone know when it will be announced, if they do raise the threshold?0

"Stamp duty on shared ownership homes will not be required until people own 80% of their home. "0
-
So that is it then - unless you have a shared ownership you will have to pay stamp duty on anything above £125k. Pity, as raising this level to £150k would given market a boost, in my opinion.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

Pushing FTB's towards shared ownership, which is more limited in supply than housing stock and many of which are new-builds, could backfire on the government. I think a few thousand more potential FTB's will decide not to bother now!0
