:( jamiedodger's back again

hello all.

after a completely hellish few months, i am afraid to say i am back on the debt free road again.

my car died in december and i tried to live without one, but with 4 kids it was impossible. i have had to borrow the money from my parents to buy another one and during the time i was minus car i ended up spending more on taxis to and from my sons school (he has behavioural problems and i am constantly called in to collect him) than i ever spent on petrol. i also wasnt able to take advantage of saving money by shopping at different places for the best deals.

the car tax needed paying a week after i bought the car, and numerous other things have broke or gone wrong over the last few months, i have spent more money than i had, which means i am back in debt again and need to sort it out.

i have a lot of bills coming out over the next two weeks and things are very tight, but i think coming back here will help and also going back to basics. i am hoping that i will be able to pay it back as quickly as possible. i hate owing anyone!!!:(

    Welcome back

You'll soon be sorted again.....at least it was for something worthwhile and not just meaningless frittering away on stuff :)

    thanks guys!

i have to go food shopping today and put petrol in the car, but i have been browsing through the food cupboards to see what i have and i actually have quite a lot! so i am hoping the food shopping wont be too expensive, although i do need washing powder, toilet rolls etc this week.

i have someone coming round this evening to put me a new front room door on, which has been arranged for a while and cant be cancelled as he has already bought the door, so i will be paying a big chunk of money out for that this evening. i paid the rent this morning so that is done and my daughters nursery fees need to be paid by friday although that is only £60.

unfortunately in all this i have 3 out of my 4 kids birthdays within 4 weeks of each other, and my friends birthday in a week and my sisters at the end of this month. arghhhhhh!

I know it works for some, but not having a car wouldn't work for me either, even though I walk as much as I can.
As another poster said you didn't fritter it away on rubbish, now you've just got to pull the belt in a little tighter to pay it back.
    Good Luck:T

back from shopping. ive done a meal plan this week too. groceries came to 66.36, this included 2 x pull ups on bogof, 4 x baby wipes, 4k cat food, hamster food, washing powder, toilet rolls. i also put 20,00 in petrol. drew out enough money to pay carpenter for door tonight, i know that i will have practically nothing left in the bank at the end of the week:( the next few weeks will be mainly paying bills, so i havent got a hope of paying any debt money back until then:(

i have also cut up both my cc's so i am not tempted to spend anymore money that i dont have!

    Good for you JamieDodger!

You're well and truly back on the MSE wagon
Cars are always a drain on finances but a necessary evil!
I just wish the government would realise that we need the cars to get to school, work etc...putting petrol prices and taxes up just makes us poorer, it doesn't get us out of the car..if you need a car, then you need a car!
    Rant over......

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Have you got anything for the kids' birthdays...I understand the stress of this as my DS's birthdays are 8 days apart, with mine bang in the middle.

Are they old enough to want "proper" presents, or will any of them be happy with a small thing in a big box ;) and a h/m cake?
