Portable dvd players and batterey life

Thinking of getting on of these to keep the children quiet on long car trips, also planing to travel long haul next year.

But how long do the recargerable battries last? Do they tend to use a barrtery pack, or could i take lots of rechargeable batteries to keep them going?

Thanks

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Bought one of the Teknica ones from Tescos, the battery lasts about 3 hours, when in the car you can run it off the cars accessory socket, and the mains adaptor when in doors.
Check the accessory list when buying, to make sure you get all the adaptors you need.

PS. The one I got is now down to £89.99 in the local Tescos (Toton).

They always use battery packs ( and won't run on standard batteries). Battery life is always quoted as between 2 and 3 hours - long enough for one film only.
No problem in a car - just use the adaptor that plugs in the ciggie lighter socket.

Make sure you get one with the accessories you need ( in-car adaptor, mains adaptor , av-leads if needed , bag etc) , because these can be expensive and difficult to find later. Bags ( with straps to fit to a car seat) are available separately, but they are unlikely to fit as well as one designed for a specific player.

Don`t think 2-3 hours batterey life will be enough to get us to NZ!!, will wait, they might improve battery life?

i have just bought 2 philips pet810 and they are well worth it - they come complete with all accessories required for that long car journey. Instead of using the battery, just plug them in to the cigarette lighter and away you go.

    Peace!!

I'm also thinking of investing in a portable dvd player, mainly for use in the car. Can anyone advise on picture quality whilst travelling, and also not sure which to go for with the varying screen sizes available?
Are our lives all mapped out?

Picture quality is very good on these portable players. But the picture is even better with NTSC DVDs ( for example region 1 discs) as the resoloution matches the screen better.

Go for the biggest screen you can afford (at least a 7 inch). Definately don't buy one without a widescreen display or you will be wasting half the screen with black bars.
