Can anyone recommend a cheap tyre fitter in London who will fit and balance self-supplied tyres. I am currently paying £10 each, although that does include a new valve and disposal of the old tyre.

Very grateful for any suggestions - thanks

That is cheap enough for London. Don't you want Mr Tyre Fitter to actually earn any money?

My car is not exactly economical with tyres, and to compensate I buy tyres regularly on eBay and from autojumbles. This means I change them fairly regularly and £20 to fit a pair of tyres isn't ideal. I don't want any tyre fitters to starve on my account, but I would like a better deal than I'm getting at the moment.

That seems very good value, a fiver here gets your wheel balanced.

Try some national chains. I used HI-Q on Saturday to fit 2 tyres I have bought from a scrap yard onto my caravan wheels. I paid £5 for both, new valves and all. Ask if they will do it for cash for their Tea fund. (I did :D ) Worth a try as most won't worry too much about company proffiits, as it's 5 mins labour on the side for somethings.

  • Tea fund eh? Wonder if this tea fund would exist in my local Hi-Q... :D

Did they do the tracking on those tyres as well? Even if not, it's a very good deal!

I doubt they would do tracking. That's done on the car and quite expensive. You might get the wheels balanced...I guess it's worth negotiating during a quiet spell...
