Cancelling an echeque

Hi

Can any one tell me please how to cancel an echeque as a buyer?

My OH has just bought 6 things from different sellers and they've all come up with payment pending due to an echeque.

There are plenty of funds in his bank account to pay for them so we're a bit stumped really.

    Hi,
As an eBay seller I block eCheque payments.
You may find my guide to this usefull it can befound here
It explains probable causes for this.

If you visit the main eBay forums you will probably get a very speedy and much more acurate response as to how to actually cancel an eCheque but for the time being I would say that I think it is the seller that has to refund it but not entirely certain of this.

    Anyway I hope this helps

I had this problem and it turned out that my card had expired and I'd forgotten to update the details, so your first port of call should be checking that the card details are all correct. However from what I can remember I just left it as an echeque as I think I found out while looking at the help pages that you actually had to ring up paypal and get them to cancel it. Hope this helps a little!
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

I had this happen to me this weekend. I got the seller to cancel the cheque then updated my card details and paid again.

However I noticed that the money for the echeque has still gone out of my bank account. I called paypal and they were unwilling to do anything but credit it to my paypal account (I don't want it there I want it back in my bank account) so I called my bank and made a claim under the direct debit guarantee.

Odd, I already had paypal set to how you explained in your review but I have received an echeque

Blocking eCheques works for normal PayPal payment methods
It unfortunately doe not block eCheques from being sent when the "Send Money" option is used.
Maybe you need to re-set the cancel eCheques option.
I have had eBayers tell me that it did not work however after unchecking the option and re-checking it then problem was solved.

When sending an eCheque a direct debit is instigated and this can not be reversed once started.
By cancelling the eChque you seller will not get their payment but the funds will appear in your PayPal account.
Real bummer but that's the way it works
