Living in US need balance transfer card

I have lived in the US for 2 years but still have an IF account back home as well as a Sainsburys credit card. My mum died recently and we are having some unforeseen delays with probate. I foolishly bought some stuff when back in the UK when I thought it was almost done and dusted and now I'm staring at a huge interest bill as this could drag on for another 6 months!

I tried one company online (Capital One) and was told they couldn't supply overseas, is this the same with all CC issuers even when I have UK accounts in good standing? I have a 25 year perfect credit history in the UK.

If not, does anybody know if I can transfer a balance from a UK to a US card?

Thanks
