Hi - Please advise. My car's is a 5 year old 316. I am having trouble with the remote locking. It opens the doors and boot alright, but when i try to lock the car, nothing happens, tried the duplicate and the same problem. But i can lock the car manually with the key
Now i will be calling the BMW dealer tomorrow, but i am just scared thinking of the huge bill that i will have to pay.
Please help

first of all have a look over at https://www.honestjohn.co.uk and ask the question on the technical forum - someone there will almost certainly be able to give you some good advice.
My only piece of advice is to ditch the main dealer and find a decent independant BMW specialist locally who will almost certainly charge half the price of the dealer and give much better service0 -
Ask a silly question! "Have you changed the battery in the remote key fob?" When you come to your vehicle to unlock it, probably first thing in the morning hey presto it works. You drive your vehicle a short distance & attempt to lock it, Hey presto NOT it doesn't work.
Another thing to bear in mind is that the IR signal strength could be more power consuming to the fob to lock the vehicle this would give the effect you are suffering from.0 -
Did changing the batteries work?0

as a fellow BMW owner, I sympathise - they are incredibly expensive if you want some work done! I accidentally reversed my car into a bollard at work and needed a new bumper. BMW quote - £570 plus VAT!!!!! Guy up the road did it for £170! also, my driver door handle sometimes sticks. BMW quote - £300!!! I took it to local family garage and they did it for £50..... shop around and ask your neighbours before you resort to BMW, is my advice!Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...
Debt-free, now focussing on being mortgage-free
