Hi
My son is due to start at uni in Sept, he is going to do a foundation course, can someone tell me if he is able to claim tuition and maintenance finance for this? Thanks.

Nope, however, if entitled, he can claim EMA from what I can remember0

If it is an access course definitely not but a foundation year may qualify...
Get the exact course details incl course code and call the LEA. They may need to phone the Uni to check the level of the course.0 -
Foundation Degree and Foundation Course are usually different things so it all depends on which he is doing. If it's the foundation course (1 year before a 3/4 year course) then I'm not sure, but as said it might not be treated as a higher education course, more like access to a higher education course.
However, if it's a 2 year foundation degree, then he is definately entitled to the same loans and finances to that of a normal degree student, as this is what I have been doing for the last 2 years.0
