If you aint got a card reader, get one (memory bits deal about £10 with 2gb) card-much easier than messing about with the camera (and dosent use the camera battery)

I just want to reiterate the warning about the 4Gb cards. I bought one thinking I could store most of my music collection on it. None of the devices I own would accept it. That included MP3 players (x2), Cameras (x2), a photo frame, a mobile phone and even the card reader built into my Dell Laptop.

Bizarrely, it will work through an external cardreader pluged into a USB port both on my laptop and my car stereo but that wasn't the idea when I bought it.

If your device doesn't state specifically that it's compatible; take it that it's not!!

AFAIK it is a FAT16 vs FAT32 thing. A 4GB device has to be FAT32 to address the whole space whereas 2GB ones can be the old FAT16. It is down to the device as to whether it can handle fat32. This is why it is fine one a PC with a card reader. If you reformat it as 2GB with plain old FAT, you will at least be able to use half of it. :(

Don't forget carriage costs-- they can't apparate them magically to your living room for free, instead they charge £3.95 per shipment for Royal Mail 1st Class Post.

Personally I'd say the Class 4 8GB SDHC on that site for £19.64 (£15.69 + £3.95 carriage) is the best offer (provided you have an SDHC compatible device) ; that should be more than enough space to see anyone through a holiday where they took the charger but not a laptop they could transfer the photos and videos to. You'd certainly need to recharge the battery several times before you were close to filling the card, which means you wouldn't have to worry about swapping cards. For the sake of twenty quid, it is a no-brainer for people with SDHC cameras and camcorders.

It will be a no-name brand but you get a one-year guarantee with everything purchased in the UK anyway-- at least I think you do as that company is based in Guernsey and they also mention things about VAT free products under £18. I'm not sure exactly how that works. It does seem a little iffy so I'd check them out more thoroughly before purchasing.

Edit: okay I was curious about it and checked out that VAT thing. Apparently is perfectly legal and goods under £18 can be sent out to people in the UK VAT free from Guernsey. It is very controversial however.

    Hi

Although PLAY have been ok to deal with. They annoy me because they make you register an online account with them which stores your Credit Card details. You can't choose not to store your Card details & you can't delete them after making your order.

So basically if anyone knows or guesses your password they can place unauthorised orders! The same problem arrises if some one can get into your email account because then they can just request a new Play password.

I've emailed and telephoned Play about changing their system but they weren't very sympathetic. They said I could call them and have my details deleted but that's a pain if you have to do that every time you make an order. I wonder if it's even legal that a company stores your financial details in a way that allows user access, without your consent? I've considered asking my Credit Card issuer to contact them but haven't done so yet.

If anyone else feels the same way could you contact Play and ask them to change their system. If enough people complain they might do something.

Sorry to hijack this thread. Any moderators please feel free to put this some where else.
