That's fine if it's only the door that needs stripping but I am currently trying to strip my door frames with a heat gun and I'm having problems with singeing the carpet. I've left those bits for now but will have to do them eventually.
Any suggestions ?0 -

LOL ........ it's nailed to the floor. I don't know if should pull it up as I don't think I will be able to get it back properly. Carpet fitting was never one of my strong points. I might just put an old rag down and hope that'll protect the carpet a bit.0 -
It probably safer to use a rough sander on those bits, it will save you burning the carpet - only a suggestion mind0

Yes, that sounds much safer. I don't have a sander but will try with sandpaper and elbow grease. Many layers of paint to get through but I'll give it a go.0

Glad i have come in useful for something
Even if it is only my crappy ideas

Since your already getting new skirtings why not replace the door facings as well,(get some new hardwood ones).Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

Wickes do a much cheaper version of Nitromors and you can get it in large sizes too. The last one I used was water based which I believe is somewhat safer. I use a combination of hot air stripper followed by a layer of paint stripper to remove residues. It is a swine of a job.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
