Direct debit "error" by Atlantic

Couldn't see if this has been covered elsewhere, but when I checked my recent gas bill/statement from Atlantic I noticed that their calculation for my future monthly direct debit was wrong. Basically, they appear to look at your past 12 months usage, assume you'll use the same amount (probably quite reasonable) and thereby calculate your next year's average monthly cost.

Their "error" was in the amount of gas I would use at the highest rate. According to their 'spokesman' their system assumed that I would use 5715 kWh at the higher rate (what they call 'standard energy') rather than 4572 kWh. Without going into excessive detail this meant that I would have to pay £46 per month rather than £40 - money in their pocket rather than mine! They have agreed that my current £40pm should be fine.

The implication was that my bill was an isolated example - I would be interested to know if it wasn't!
