in Credit cards
Hi wondered if someone could help..I've never had a credit card before, but my other half has. He is just about managing to pay them off each month. He now has a low credit rating.
I think mine is ok, so do you think I would be able to get a card, and transfer a balance from one of his cards on to mine?
I wanted one that had 0% for a year if possible
Thanks in advance

You can transfer balances from any card as far as I am aware-just make sure you are sure you want to take over his credit because as soon as it's in your name then thats it....you are liable. When you do a balance transfer they just take the card number and thats it! Never been asked for the name on the account yet! After all, they want the credit don't they so they get the interest. I suppose it's just like making a purchase.Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!

If he's making the payments then his credit rating may not be as bad as you think. Has he defaulted on any payments? If he's not already, there's no harm in him checking his Experian report for free (remind him to unsubscribe or he'll be signed up for a monthly renewal at £6.99 a month)."A child of five could understand this. Thanks for the replies.
I will ask other half to have a look into his credit rating. He hasn't defaulted on any of the payments that I know of. But we would like to take advantage of any of the 0% offers that are out there in my name.
Can anyone recommend one, as I have never had a credit card before.0 -

For 0% purchases, I've got the HSBC card, 0% for 15 months.
For 0% BT, I've got a few, but Virgin Money, 0% for 15 months, 2.98% fee.
There's a full list of BT cards at: http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.htm
Full ist of purchase cards at: http://www.stoozing.com/purchases.htm
You'll have a chance of a better credit limit if you've not already got a card with the company behind the new card, see the full list at: http://www.stoozing.com/cards.htm
Remember though that if you take the cards out in your name and add a second card-holders, you're still solely liable for the debt. Just to be sure you're totally aware, don't want to see you post again in a few months saying your other half has racked up massive debts on your cards
