Barclays having me on?

I went in to my local Barlcyas Branch on Monday asking what the criteria would be to have a credit card with them. I'm only 18 my contract at my weekend job expired about a month ago and haven't found anything since.

I've banked around £5k with them (some of this from a job i had last year which over paid me)

She asked to upgrade my account (which was a young person's) in to a Barclays bog standard account.

She then said that a credit card acception chances would be higher because of this. Then on the first half of the credit card form she did it said she could carry on. She told me this is rare because most people don't have good enough bank profile to carry on straight away.

I need to go back tomorrow to complete it. There's no guarentee but this seems a bit silly. The leaflet i have says i need at least £3K a year to have a Barclaycard.

Is it worth me carrying on because i think i'll be rejected.

  • My best advice is that if you don't have an income then don't apply for one as a)they will prob decline it or b)they will give you it then take it off you.

The only Barclaycard you can have under the ago of 21 is the Initial-and the interest rate is absolutley riduculous...you will be better off with a cheaper card when your finances recover!

The branch will have you bank in to try and upgrade you to the First Additions account...look at everything it offeres before you sign up if they go down this route with you!-and by having that account doesn't mean that your Barclayscard will be approved as they are two separate parts of Barclays....trust me!
Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
As D'Ream would sing 'Things.....can only get better'!!!

Experian just contacted to say that my credit-file has a current account application. Then i got the post and they've given me an online account code.

I can't find their inital credit card in the leaflets but i can online. Would i qualify for a Student Card? It says in the leaflet for those near the end of college (which i am).

    It's all a bit confusing.
