southern electric prices are they going up?

Options
hi, im thinking of switching to southern electric and they seem very cheap in comparison to the other suppliers but this makes me wonder if a price hike is around the corner

have any southern electric customers had notification of a price rise? or has any one heard any rumours that one is in the offing?

cheers
mike

I've been with them a year. Not heard anything. They are pretty helpful. If you pay the by a certain date you get something like 4% off the next bill.

Quiet helpful, someone at the top of the road is now paying twice as much for electric and there with N-power.

They are part of the Scottish and Southern group, and they have not yet raised prices in the latest round of increases. They are the last ones to raise prices and have delayed the increase for the benefit of their customers so they pay the low price for the remainder of the winter period. I do not think a definite date has been set but it will be around the end of March.
  • yes im with npower at the moment and the prices compare :-

    im on E7

    npower prices
day 24.07p for first 224 units then 11.64
    night at 4.67p

    southern electric prices
day 17.20 for first 225 units then 9.36 for those used over 225
    night at 3.29p

on those prices i calculate i could save around £60 per quater with southern based on winter usage.

My concern is prices may go up with the start of british summer time as seems to be the trend

I believe they stated that they would hold their prices until British Summer Time starts(26 Mar).

The implication being they will rise soon afterwards.

Be interesting to see if tomorrow's budget has any affect on prices.

yeah that was my thoughts, with all the recent bad publicity the energy companies are having i was wondering if they might put off raising their prices to avoid the crossfire, but thats probably wishful thinking
