Charged 'cash advance' for changing my pin? Lloyds Student Credit Card.

in Credit cards
I was signed up for a student credit card, which comes with the Llloyds student account. I wasn't planning on using it at all, but was promised a money 'bonus' for signing up for it.
When I received the card, it had a ridiculously simple pin number.
I went to their branch to change the pin in one of their machines, I used the machine twice - once to change my details, and once to check they had been changed.
A month later I receive a bill and I've been charged 2x £2.50 i.e. £5 'cash advance' on the date that I changed my pin, despite the fact that I have never taken money from it?
Now, I would just pay the lousy £5 out of the 'bonus money' for getting the card ... except that the bonus money I was offerend for has not been credited to my account. I've complained, but have been told 'they don't deal with this offer in branch' and I have been given a number to call, that basically results in me being sent back and forth between branches and premium rate phone calls.

Bit rude isn't it?
I don't have any experience with Lloyds, I don't know what they're like. is there a 'bigger' branch nearby, maybe with someone who could deal with it there? (my tiny local barclays branch said they couldn't open an ISA account for me and told me to go to a nearby 'main' branch)
tell them if they don't refund, sort out the mess and compensate you for the phone calls you'll take your business elsewhere.0 -
If you check T&C you may find that the cash incentive would be paid when you use the card? Similarly there may be a charge for accessing your account or changing details, but that would be outrageous.
I suggest you write to LTSB head office: CUSTOMER COMPLAINT and state if you get no satisfaction from their complaints procedure you will be complaining to the ombudsman. Phone the number on the back of the card above the magnetic strip. This will get you through to card services. Lloyds TSB don't use premium rate telephone numbers.
The number should be an 0845 which is a Lo-cal number. You can also use www.saynoto0870.co.uk to find a geographical number.
Ask them to clarify the charges. I am an LTSB employee and have never heard of such a charge for a PIN change. I can only assume it is a mistake or a charge for something else.
Let us know how you get on.Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!

Sounds like a mistake to me.
Cna you go into your branch? I've always found Lloyds to be really helpful....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
