Transferring Money

??? I am a money novice so please remember there are no stupid questions. I have some savings in a Cahoot saving account with easy access. When I put the money in the savings account from my current account I had to pay £25 for a CHAPS transfer. What free ways are there to transfer money from one account to another except cheques. Hope someone can give me some advice. Thanks.

You can use BACS which is free and usually take 3 BANKING daysDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

It depends on the savings account you are using. The most common one is BACS already mentioned by Derrick.
Egg savings allow you to make deposits from your current account by debit card - it is free and virtually immediate, but may be limited to £10000 per transaction depending on your bank.
When you transferred money from your current account to Cahoot via CHAPS you were paying for same day transfer - you could have used BACS transfer which usually takes 3 working days ie.leaves current a/c on Monday, arrives Cahoot Wednesday.
If you want to give specific accounts - ie.which account from and to - someone on here will have done it too and will tell you the best way! ;D0
