Credit Card closed due to default?

Hi all,

Had a credit card for many years and missed a whole 10 pound payment last year. Defaulted due to having problems contacting the bank (HSBC) to get the international codes required to transfer money whilst living in Australia.

Sent a letter of complaint and received an apology and a goodwill payment. Account is in credit and I keep getting statements. But I called them to change my address to my UK address and failed security as I couldn't remember the answers to one of the questions I set over 5 years ago. No nobody will talk to me!

That was a few months ago, yet the statements keep coming through and the account is in credit. Looking to load up a couple of thousand on there to get me started when I return to the UK.

Do people know if the account is still active, even with a default? Can I get a new card sent out when I get to the UK? And is there ANY way of getting the 'security lockdown' lifted whilst in Aus? Can an Aussie HSBC help?

Thanks,

Marc

Might rephrase - can credit card companies close a card after one default or if the account is in credit?

They can if they want to, but since you are still getting statements they have obviously not done so.
