Clueless with Gas and Elec

To cut a long story short when I bought my house it had an electricity prepayment meter installed and a normal gas meter. By default I have them both through Scottish Gas - the prepayment meter is the key type but I realise I am probably paying more for this than I really should.
I also want to look at moving suppliers but it seems a bit difficult to enter my details as not sure if I get a dual fuel tarriff etc - should I contact Scottish Gas to remove the prepayment meter and then look at changing suppliers to make things simpler? Or maybe move gas just now and then look at electricity later?
I am just trying to look at ways to make this as simple as possible

I would always try to get rid of your pre-pay meters with your current(sorry) supplier first - then you can change.
Although not always merited, customers on pre-pay are treated with caution by new suppliers as they may well have problems paying with a credit meter; as that is often the reason they are on pre-pay meters.
They don't want to go to the expense of fitting new meters only to have to change them back again.0 -
You will be paying over the odds with a prepayment meter. Get that changed as soon as possible.
Go to Uswitch.com and see what prices they come up with. Try with gas and electric separately, and with dual fuel tariffs. You may find that there is very little difference between the two, and that it is simpler to go with the dual fuel deal.
Hope this helps.0 -
