Newbie - Can anyone help me???

Hi this is my first post so if i've done it all wrong please dont be too cross.
I've been lurking for ages but never plucked up the courage to post until now! But you're the only people I 'Know' that might be able to help.
Since finding this site - and in particular this forum - I have become a vinegar convert, I use it for EVERYTHING!! However... I have noticed that when i put it in the fabric conditioner section of my washing machine drawer it's not getting 'washed out' into the washing machine. Which means I'm effectively not using any! Does anyone have any ideas why?? The drawer is sparkly clean (ish) so it's not that it's all gunged up. I'm far too
Thanks for your help!!

Mrs B, I can't help, but I'm having the same problem. I assumed there was a blockage that I haven't had time to sort out, in the fabric softener bit of the drawer...but I'm not too sure now, if yours is sparkly clean and you're having the same problem. I had thought, though, that the liquid I'm left with after the wash, is mainly water (doesn't smell as strong as the vinegar and essential oils that I start the wash with), so it seemed to me the drawer was getting enough water to wash a lot of my "softener" through, and then stay filled up with water...Oh, I don't know, I'm very
now, too!!
Welcome to the board, anyhow!!0 -
You could try the home made recipe that another poster uses and that I have copied.
Fill an old empty fabric conditioner bottle with vinegar, bicarb of soda till half full then add water and a few drops of essential oil. Watch out because bicarb will fizz like mad.
As it is a heavier mixture then it may work better than plain vinegar.
I use this method as then my family just see me using "conditioner" while if I were to openly put vinegar in the machine then they would panic."This site is addictive!"

Welcome to the boards MrsB, fellow geordie :j
Maybe there is a residue in the draw as the mixture isnt thick enough to be flushed out as conditioner is rather thick. If that makes any sense... it does in my head. :confused0 -
i had the same problem for a while, but since using the mixture put in above by elona, i've not had any problems.0

Thanks Elona :T ,
Come to think of it I did try that 'mix' the other day and didnt notice any left in the drawer - although I must confess I didnt check. I only noticed because when I put the washer on last night i added my usual meagre amount of vinegar and it suddenly sloshed over the top of the little cover doodah. Hmm, think I need to keep an eye on it!
Hi Ancasta - have to confess to being an honourary (Sp??) Geordie rather than a native but love it up here!! Im in Washington at the minute but come September we will be at the mercy of the property market and could end up anywhere in the north east. Prefferably as far away from Mother in law as possible

LOL Guess why we live in Newcastle?? My MIL lives in Somerset - it was about as far as we could go!! Aww I shouldnt say that should I, she's lovely really - more so for being a 7 hour drive away!!

We live over by the MetroCentre - deadly as I have a penchant for shopping!! :eek:I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. Theres loads to see and do. I would recommend getting travel passes for the week as alot of its quite spread out.
We have an indoor theme park, lots of beautiful coasts, musuems, bridges, shops, the angel of the north.
But yeah, heavily recommend a bus/metro pass.0 -
Depending on the age of your kids you might like the discovery museum - it's great for any age that hasnt yet reached 'stroppy teendom'!! It's just outside the city centre with cheap parking and best of all - It's FREE!! Also a good option if it's wet / cold which it can occaisionally be up here!!
