It's not normally noisy.
Make sure you use the thicker type of underlay and it will be fine.0 -
We have it in our bedroom and its not too bad as we used that silver underlay.LBM-29/08/07

From living in a ground floor flat where the upstairs flat have used laminate flooring, it can be noisy. Its not necessarily the stomping around that is noisy, its really the general upstairs noise is increased. I hear what the people upstairs are talking about, hear their music etc, when before, when they hard carpet, I didn't.
But as both floors are your property then I doubt this would be a problem for you.0 -
I also live below a woman that has laminate flooing, and it is very noisy.0

It depends on whether you wear shoes up there. I've lived in houses with laminate up and down and it's been no marked difference to carpet, but then we don't wear shoes in the house.
Of course if someone is living up there in a self contained flat then you are more likely to hear them but the stairwells in a house are open anyway, generally.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

We have it in the childrens rooms and don't seem to suffer with anymore noise than we did with carpet. We have the thick underlay though and their rooms are over the kitchen and garage so it wouldn't affect us that much tbh.0

Same here, we hear when they kick their shoes off, when they drop their knives and forks on the floor, when they pull the dining chairs out and scrape them across the floor...
We think they have put laminate in the bedrooms too as now we can hear their bed creaking - whereas we never did before :rolleyes:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
We used to live in an upstairs flat with laminate flooring, and we were careful not to jump about etc. The person below was still regularly banging on the ceiling or turning their music up to the max. Maybe it was due to the laminate, maybe they were just obnoxious miserys...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Trust me, every little noise you upstairs flat people make with laminate is so loud in a downstairs flat. I even hear the upstairs cat running around, opening drawers, opening wardrobes... anything that is touching the floor in someway seems to make such a noise in the flat below - I rarely ever hear TV or voices though.!!!!!!_here wrote: »We used to live in an upstairs flat with laminate flooring, and we were careful not to jump about etc. The person below was still regularly banging on the ceiling or turning their music up to the max. Also, I will add this while I'm here...
...I think people that install laminate in flats (without concrete floors) are either very selfish or very thoughtless. How would you feel if it was the other way round.0
