No USB ports? How old is the pc? :D

Firstly is your sister sure the pc has no usb ports? They look like this.

It might be that she has her modem/printer/scanner etc plugged into all of them so she can't see them.

If she really doesn't have any, you will need to have one of these put into a spare pci slot on your computer. That's if it has one.

A pci slot is what the internal modem is plugged into. Most computers have at least two. One for the modem, and a spare.

If there is a spare pci slot it should be relatively simply to put the usb ports in. Depends on how brave you are!

I started modifying my computer a few years ago by adding a cd rw and extra memory by finding detailed instructions on the internet and reading what came with the hardware. Then I got brave and built a new computer with a barebones system. Next time I'll be really brave and build a computer from scratch. It can be done by us girlies!

Otherwise, I suggest you find a local computer shop and ask them to put it in for you.

I agree, fit it yourself....take off the case side, remove the blanking plate and then just insert the pci usb card into the white pci slot on the motherboard, hold intom place with a screw and then turn on and if your operating system doesn't automatically recognise it then install the drivers.

I built my first computer in 1998, building a computer is the easy bit, I can build from components to ready to turn on now in around five minutes...the bit that takes the time is loading on all the software :)

if you have got all the sattalite hardware tying up the usb ports just go and buy a usb hub(about a fiver).you can then connect your printer, scanner and whatever else into this and so leaving all other usb ports empty.

Just a thought, if this is a really old computer without USB connectivity the operating system may not support USB or Bluetooth, before you spend any money on upgrading it get that checked either by posting the specification on here or at your local PC shop.
