Does amount of claim affect next premium?

I ran some quotes using screen scrapers (to check how much premium will be following my recent claim, which is yet to be resolved) - surprisingly my quotes are coming same irrespective of what I enter in amount claimed box! For example, £400 or £4000 claim returns same premium.

Does it mean if there is a claim record against me, I'll be paying same penalty (i.e. higher premium) whether the car has bumper damage or write off?
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

This is because the main risk factor is that you had a claim, not the amount of the claim.

For example, you lose control, cause an accident and write-off a third party's car. If the third party is driving a 1990 Fiesta then it won't cost much to sort out; if they are driving a new BMW it will cost much more. But the degree of negligence is the same - you losing control of your car.

I shouldn't worry about it too much. At renewal time you might find your premium to stay with same co goes up but shop around and you might get it cheaper elsewhere.

I had a fault claim in 06 and whilst renewal went up quite a bit I shopped around and got a better deal elsewhere. I ended up paying less after the claim than I did before. (and I don't mean the renewal, I mean the premium I paid before the claim)
