Cracked Windsheild

Today whilst driving my car got hit by a stone from a haulage lorry I was overtaking on a 2 lane road. It cracked my windshield. I managed to get the registration plate of the lorry and the company who owns the trucks.

Just wondering if anyone knew where I stood with this? i.e. who is liable for the cost of fixing this?

Thanks

Depends whether you can prove the third party is liable, which I doubt you can.

If you are covered comprehensively just get it fixed through your insurer and pay the excess, which wil probably be about £50-75.

When you say "my car got hit by a stone from a haulage lorry", do you mean the stone was thrown up off the road by the lorry's tyres? If so, they are absolutely not liable for the damage.

If it was debris that fell off the truck you might begin to have a case, but even then it would be almost impossible to prove.
