A bit steep to install new bathroom?

    I promised an update...
We've since had another quote, of around £1700 for the same not including supply of skip. Have checked out this plumber's references and he comes highly recommended. We're only fitting one freestanding vanity unit so not a whole heap of work there. We live in the NorthEast where I think trades are a wee bit cheaper, as are skip hires etc.
After much internet searching have decided to source materials as follows:
bath - B&Q (because we can't find one similar elsewhere)
all other sanitaryware and shower - plumbworld
    tiles - ceramic tile distributors
    furniture - next directory

Phew - it's been a hard task! Hope all being well installation should start in mid-April. Will now need to rip down those tiles!
Thanks for all replies. Wish us luck!

Nearly a month later and a full report as promised!
We ripped out the tiles ourselves and the plumber came on Mon 14th, and finished today (19th) - so it took six days. It came out at around £1800 and he did the following:
Plasterboard and skimmed all the walls.
Fitted suite including slight repositioning of loo and boxing in some pipework
New pipes under floor for all sanitaryware
Fitted new suite and corner shower with shower boards
Raised shower up on plinth so any leaks could be seen underneath in future.
Tiled around bath and sink and boxed in area behind loo.
    Tiled floor.
He provided plasterboards, plaster, grout and tile adhesive.

He did a really thorough job. Worked alone which is why his costs are low, and was always receptive to any questions we had.
My only gripe was the amount of mess - he didn't lay dust sheets on our stairs, but then we could have thought of that too.
We're very pleased and have saved a lot on the original quote.
Hope this is of interest to anyone going through the same!

Good evening: Thanks for the final report...now you can recommend his services to others (unfortunately not all plumbers are housetrained like my OH;) )

    Enjoy.

I'm in the process of sorting out a new suite for my small (1.8mx1.8m) bathroom. I haven't had quotes yet but I had set aside about £2K for fitting it, seems I wasn't far off.
It is annoying when the suite and furniture is "only" going to be around £1200.

Can recommend plumworld for purchasing suite, they were really prompt with delivery, and sorted out a problem (cracked sink) with no hassle whatsoever.

Hi I live in the North East and am currently trying to find a good plumber to refit my bathroom/ensuite and I'm not finding it very easy. Would you mind giving me the details of the plumber that you used.

    Thanks
