in Credit cards
Hi Everyone,
I am firmly back on the DFW wagon. Now I want to really start hitting the cards big time (paying them off I mean) and I redid my budget and bullied Virgin into a better package deal so I have about £500 a month to throw at them. Thing is, I feel exceptionally fed up and bored. I feel life is passing me by.
I have done what I can, for example building and selling some computers from parts I had lying around, and putting the money against the debts, but everything that isn't important or got value has been sold.
I did think about a weekend job but I am partially deaf (although not diagnosed by audiology at present, just Dr) so therefore am not good in customer facing roles, (although am excellent at IT 3rd level support and email
- if anyone is hiring
)
Just general boredom is the problem. An example, we didn't go anywhere at the weekend, so we didnt spend any money, but you can only look at the DFW board for so long before boredom sets in (no offence)
So, question is, what can a young (30) year old do to make the most of the entertainment pennies ? I don't really have many hobbies, and the ones I fancy are expensive.
Part of the problem is, I get going, and going well, and then get fed up because it's always a "but it costs money" situation.
Anyone got any ideas, especially for the evening ?

I used to work part time in a bar and it was great - all of the socialising but none of the damage to pocket or liver.
I worked with a woman who was totally deaf in one ear and she had no bother; if it was midweek and quiet she could just lean over to listen, and regulars (the normal midweek punters) knew to speak a bit louder (but then, being regulars you knew what they wanted anyway), and at louder weekends no-one could hear anyone over the music and you relied on lipreading and hand gestures.

Probably better suggestions on the DFW board, but here's a few random thoughts:
* not a quick route, but you could join www.pigsback.com and slowly get some extra stuff
* online surveys - lots linked from the pigsback site, also some competition sites
* ask everyone you know to search through their drawers for old mobile phones and then go to www.envirofone.com where they'll give you cash for them
* Sign up to www.quidco.com and get cash for applying for bank accounts
* offer to do a money make-over for friends and family, tell them you'll charge them 5% of the money you save them
You probably won't get rich, but might alleviate the boredom for a while
You will get an amount of marketing traffic to your email address, but that's the price you pay for chasing the pounds."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
Hi everyone,
Just to apologise for being absent for a day or two.
My problem has been partly fixed. My employer, much to my suprise, has offered to pay for me to do some professional courses. This means that I now have something to put my energies in the evenings into, although it still does kinda leave the weekend!
Thanks to you both for your input!
