Anyone heard of American Life Healthcare??

Just got a call from a guy saying he was from American Life Healthcare. Stated he could offer family healthcare for myself, wife and child for £25 approx. Lots of 'call-center' type noise in background. Asked him how he got my home telephone number, which is ex-directory, said I or some member of family must have given it.
Immediately smelt a rat as we do not give telephone number unless absolutely necessary - would always give mobile.
Anyway - said he needed to verify age, UK residency. Gave him duff DOB's and an old address, just to see where this would go. Said 'yes - that's address we have for you', although to be fair only moved a couple of months ago and only those who need to know new address do.
Then said he needed bank sort code. Refused point blank at this stage - said he could not send details out without verifying I had a UK bank account that accepted direct debits. Still refused as I see no reason they could not send info on a product without this.
Anyone else been called or know of this company? I can't find any details on them on the internet and am very dubious about them. Not worried that they have any personal info as I gave duff DOBs and no sort code but am worried it is some scam and they would be able to get these details elsewhere.
Any thoughts?

Yes I got a call on Monday of this week (Oct 25th) from a well spoken guy from this company who called himself Earl...but I didn't get as far into the conversation as you...having been told that "I qualify" thanks to my date of birth I politely told him to clear off!!!0

we are always qualifying for things too...we must be very good!!
untill you notice that the old mad neighbour has qualified for exclusive rates on gym membership to........
(haven't got an old mad neighbour but you know what i mean)
i wouldn't even waste the breath talking to them...Once the realization is accepted that even between the closest human beings infinite distances continue, a wonderful living side by side can grow, if they succeed in loving the distance between them which makes it possible for each to see the other whole against the sky.0 -
We used to get calls from a company called American Life Insurance Company company at our old house. We were x-directory and never registered our old addess with any companies so that they could pass on the details.
We have moved house recently, have a different telephone number which is x-directory and it took them about six weeks to track us down!
Similar calls to the others mentioned. Talking about life/critical/terminal insurance cover. The products sound very good. However, they can't/wont send details through the post unless you give them your bank details. I have had several calls now. I go through the whole process with them until we get to the banking details part. I politely inform them that I think their products sound great but I do not give out bank details over the phone. I still get calls from time to time but nobody seems to be able to send me any details or direct me to a web site with their products on.Never ever pay full price for anything and question everything at least twice!0
