cash advance fee - but havent had any cash ?????

So at the weekend my partner wanted one of the virgin prepaid cards, to use for bits and bobs,

So she went to the virgin website which i think is operated by 360 money, and there is a 9.95 setup fee, I did not load any money for her purely the 9.95 setup fee, Capital one have now stumped me with a 3.00 ! cash advance fee, I could understand if id loaded money up but i havent and feel a little robbed

I have sent a secure message to cap one, I guess i will have to await there response, I assume its down to the catogery they come under when processiong payments and its an automatic thing ?

  • The purchase of gift vouchers and gambling credits, basically things that could be used as cash, is also treated as a cash advance transaction. This is probably in your T&Cs.

It sounds like a mistake to me.
Either wait for their response or call them.

Capital One wont know its a setup fee though, all they see is money going to a company that is primarily used for prepaid cards, they'll probably refund it as a courtesy if you call them
