  • i am surprised you managed to price match with play...they wouldnt let me do that down here!

Play.com is the only store i ever seem to price match  Give pc world customer services a call, and tell them your local store is refusing to "price match" :( .... http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/editorial/price-match-promise

Yup, check at the bottom of that link and there's a list of websites they price match against (and any bricks and mortar stores within 30 miles). The best discounts I've found and used so far are on 2GB XD memory cards - £49.99 in PC World, £13.49 on Play = £9.85. Bear in mind it's single unit purchase only. The good thing about that is they had an XD Type H and XD Type M 2GB card in store, so I got two. Just took in a print out of the Play page and the Price Promise page and had no trouble at all.

Looking at the detail, can you actually see anything that says it excludes Marketplace listings on the Amazon site?

The price promise has also lead to me developing an unhealthy habit of trying to find something PC World sell that I can get for free. It needs something to be underpriced somewhere else, and overpriced by them.

    One day, I will succeed.

    "items sold by Amazon.co.uk"

as marketplace are not sold by AMAZON then thats what makes it excluded. It clearly states on Marketplace things "Not sold by amazon"

If you are ordering online or have ordered and find it cheaper then ring the number in this link,
    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/editorial/price-match-promise

If instore you ask them to match a price and they look up the website to confirm the price to match.

This applies to prices offered by retailers within 30 miles of your local PC World store and the UK websites listed below. The competitor must have the item in stock and website prices must include delivery. Single unit purchases only.

To take advantage of our price promise, please telephone our sales team on 0844 561 0000
    clearly stating the following details:

    2. The product, price and our product code you are interested in purchasing
    3. The name of the Internet site or store offering a better price

  • I got them to reduce the same item on two different occasions before christmas. They had x-rocker gaming chairs instore at 79.99 but on pc world online they were 69.99 (also argos), so I got it instore for that price with price matching. Within a week of buying it Argos had reduced the price to 44.99, so I went back into PC world with my receipt and the details of the argos chair and they refunded the difference (I think the price had gone up again in PC world by this time too). It was worth the effort of going back into pc world and a great bargain pressie in the end, my son loves it.
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

  • ... you can use Scan as a price match as Scan have a collect counter so postage costs needn't be figured in.
