The point is that it is a psychoactive drug, and nobody should take these except under medical supervision. Apart from anything else, your doctor may be able to prescribe a more effective and safer treatment for whatever is the problem for which you feel you need this drug.

But go ahead and get your medication off a shop assistant on the say-so of people off the internet. It's your physical and mental health, and you're probably an adult.

you are misinformed and your post is misleading - but yours isn't the only misleading post.

5-HTP is not a 'drug' and it is not psychoactive. i wouldnt recommend them for sleeping either, as this is not what they do!

as a supplement, they can elevate your mood - no, not in the way of any banned substances - and can help people who are feeling run-down, exhausted, tired and generally feeling !!!!!!. my girlfriend takes them when she is due her periods and they make her feel much better.

back on topic, that's a really good price!

(additionally, do you really think holland and barratt would sell a psychoactive drug? sheesh.)
    comping sporadically since 14.07.07

    it is an amino acid.
5-Hydroxy Tryptophan (5-HTP) which, in turn, is made from another amino acid called tryptophan. Both of these are found in protein-rich foods, such as meat, fish, beans and eggs. Foods also high in vitamin B, such as bananas and avocados, can be beneficial to your mood as they convert tryptophan into serotonin. By eating these types of food you are helping your body produce more serotonin and it can therefore boost your mood.

it is one of many amino acids...think back to your school biology lessons.

it is a good price and if it helps you feel better/sleep better thats fine.

melatonin is useful for anyone with jet lag problems. makes you feel tired so you go to sleep.

holland and barratt have lots of good deals on at the moment.

It is a drug and it is psychoactive, but I am not here to get into an argument about this. I merely wanted to make the point that it isn't safe to use this stuff without mediical supervision and anyway people should consider using their GP service to sort out the problems this stuff is set up to deal with.

nonsense, don't need a prescription for bananas or cheese! both full of amino acids which are essential for good health

So rather than take these tablets, the original poster and others should just eat a healthy diet. I can agree with that.

And too many people rely on drugs instead.

I agree seeing a doctor may be a good idea, but for me that's not a good option as it's so difficult to get an appointment at our surgery. Also a GP will only prescribe drugs, and not offer a natural alternative. Thanks to the OP for highlighting this offer.
