Has anyone ever done this,or does anyone do this already? I`ve thought about this in the past, but never got around to doing anything about it, I`m not bad at drawing, i enjoy it, but prefer to copy from something, do you think theres a market for this?

Hi, I can imagine there would be a market for this, however, if you intend to copy Disney type characters i think there would be an issue with copyright. Disney in particular are very very hot on any infringment on their logos.
They do not as far as I know issue any licences to lone people.
Hope this helps.2011, this will be my year .0 -

Bottom line - yes, copyright does matter. Even if it's a bedroom, you are still making money on someone else's creation. The decision is yours, but Disney (for example) have sued individuals for a lot of money.
You'd be better off creating characters of your own. Alternatively, try contacting animation companies directly about using their images.0 -

Try plain black in the default font. I don't want to look at your posts, let alone read them.
Big and red may be good for a child's bedroom, but as the font for a forum post it will p*ss more people off than it will excite.0 -
in terms of licensing/copyright if you are using character images such as Disney, looney tunes etc (well anything recognised) you should be obtaining permission to do so (and then probably required to follow character style guides etc) and also to pay a royalty to the image owner. Expect this to be in the region of 10-20% of your revenue.
That seems very expensive and onerous for what you are intending unfortunately.
I'm a finance person by trade so I wouldnt even like to try and comment on any of your artistic questions.
If you did wish to proceed you would probably want to speak to the licensing department of the relevant character companies in the first instance. My recommendation though is that you avoid this route and find something else to draw - maybe research royalty free images to see if there is any potential there. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

I used to volunteer for the Prince's Trust and as one of our projects we did a mural in a children's hospital ward that was being refurbished. There was a big group of us and one was a bit of an artist so drew an aquarium theme onto overhead projector slides. We then 'traced' the design onto the blank blue wall using pencil and the OHP, then 'coloured it in' using donated brushes and paint - anything we could get our hands on for no money. It came out really well, and as far as I know it's still there.
I hope that gives you a bit of an insight into the practicalities of getting the picture on the wall and in proportion.I joined the 21k debt free in 2 years head to head challenge 12 December 06

Newbie here so please be gently
I've decorated both my children's bedrooms in character, my son's is Spiderman, with buildings etc all over one wall (which was copied from a magazine) and my daughter's in High School Muscial (one wall painted blue with huge yellow words). Obviously they are not exactly the same as the original versions but both are extremely happy with them.
I just used normal emulsion paints, apart from the outline to the spiderman buildings, I used a black marker pen which makes them stand out.
I think I heard a while back that as long as there are 4 variations from the original design that you are ok????
Like you Caz I've thought of doing this to make some extra cash but don't think there would be much demand.
Hope this helps.
