Hello again, and thanks for all your replies,
I`ve just ordered myself some artists brushes, and some small tubes of Acrylic paint, so i can start having a doodle on a wall somewhere in the house:eek:lol

I`m going to look on freecycle to see if anyone has an old OHP hanging about that they may want to get rid of.

Bessie, i`d say "go for it" if you enjoy doing this sort of thing, Children will always love cartoon characters, and yes ive heard that somewhere too, (that if its not exactly the same as the original character then its ok)

I`m going to give it a go, i love drawing, so why not try and earn some pennies from it:T

  • Had my childrens bedrooms done a few years back, one scooby doo, other Manchester United. Was charged approx £350 per room. Did excellent job and although it seems a lot has lasted a good few years. Going to have to change scooby soon as son nearly 10 I will be sad to see it go.

Hi, some years ago I decorated my children's bedrooms also using disney characters, I used images from the packaging of puzzle boxes, - i found they had more detail and better colour than the usual pictures, and while i used emulsion for large expanses of background, acrylic paint gave a better finish and colour quality on detail. I also limited it to the top half of the wall, and either painted or wallpapered the bottom half with a plain colour, in order to make it easier to change.

It was quite time consuming but looked great even after 10 years. When I came to sell the house, I felt the Estate Agent was reticent to include pictures on the brochure, as everything beige was in vogue at the time; however everyone who viewed the property seemed genuinely impressed by it, and was lucky to sell the house for 17k over the asking price in a week! I suppose it brings back memories for most of us, and the children loved it.

    HTH...

I did a Thomas the tank engine theme for me little boy a couple of years ago with the help of the stickaround train wall stickers/pictures.

In his bedroom I drew and painted
-A ticket office on 1 wall,
-2 large ish tunnels with train tracks - I used black board paint with the intention he could draw using chalk (but i never let him do it incase it ruined the picture:o )
A tall tree with different coloured green hills.

The top 1/4 of the walls were all blue - as the sky.

If anyone can advise how to upload pictures, i can show you if you like.

Look and search for childrens murials on internet and although a lot of american sites come up and you may have to search some rubbish sites, i did find loads of good site.

Have a look at the website - https://www.muraldesign.co.uk/ChildrensMurals

Also Click on the link below :-

And scroll down to the bottom 2 pictures of a ticket office -
This is where i got some ideas and inspiration for my attempt at painting a "Station Ticket Office" on my wall.

Then have a look at my (not as good) attempt at a similar ticket office on the photos below.

(Photos are not brillient quality either)
