    https://www.bunac.org.uk
    https://www.campamerica.co.uk
    https://www.ccusa.co.uk

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. This summer will be my 7th working on a summer camp in the USA

I'm going to Camp America and they are flying me from my local airport? And I am having prep days in the uk? Everyone who has interviewed me and I have spoken to have all been and done it too, so maybe a bit of misconception there. My total price is only something like £300 too.. x

You also have CCUSA and BUNAC, both very good companies. BUNAC is not-for-profit too and is known as giving a much more personal touch.

I'm not sure I'm going to agree about the personal touch there. At Camp Leaders, every person gets a named contact in the UK office who helps them through every stage of their application both online and by phone. I'm not sure that any of the other companies offer that

You can get that at either CCUSA or BUNAC, not too sure about Camp America but wouldn't recommend them anyway.

Once accepted, BUNAC send your application to one camp at a time and if they don't want you will send it to the next and the next and so on until you're hired. That's why it takes so much longer to get placed with them. The other companies send it out to all at once.

OP, I'm sure you didn't intend this to be a slanging match for all the different types of camps, and more to do with your original questions :)

So... Here's some of the questions on my application form for Camp America. I would say the most important thing in the applications/interviews is to show that you are willing to try, you don't have to be an expert before going out there, as the whole experience gives you more skills anyway.

What do you understand the Counsellor role to be and why do you think you will be a good Camp Counsellor?

What experience do you have to demonstrate your ability to work long hours, sometimes performing tasks that are physically and emotionally demanding and live in a community with strict rules? (e.g. ban on alcohol and adhering to curfew)

Describe any experience you have had working with children. Please detail the ages of the children, your relationship to them and in what capacity you have worked with them.

That's the bulk of 'personal' questions and they don't ask much more at the interview to be honest, just to expand on what you have written.

If you need any help with it or anything just pm me, my experience so far has been fab, although there is plenty of paperwork to fill out for working in America lol! Have a look at all the camps to see what suits you, I went for Camp America because so many of my friends had been and loved it, and there was also a dedicated nursery camp that I wanted to work at. :)

I don't think camp america is really worth it if you want money, as your other costs will basically just about be covered by your wage. It's just a free holiday.

consider charity work relating to the job you hope to do.
