Lloyds TSB, now £40 for you and a friend

Options
Hi Guys,

This is my first time to post ,i love this site,i have to say, you guys helped me so much!!!THANK YOU!!
I love saving money!!!
Since i first visited this site , i managed to get a CC and open a Current Account Classic Plus with Lloyds TSB,i had no credit history,i don`t beleive in Credit, but i realised that if i want to get a mortgage i need a good credit history,so i`m on a mission to build it up,and maybe next year buy a property.

As it has been posted before,"Recommend A Friend " Lloyds giving money away to you and a friend if you open an account and pay £1000 or more into the account.
It used to be £50,now it went down to £40.
I have already received £25.
By the way, their Switching Service is very poor,it has been a month now and i haven`t received any form,i keep calling them to send me one so they can do it for me...nothing is happening!!! :A I guess i have to do it by myself

There is confusion with LTSB here.
If you introduce a friend and that friend pays in £500 or more a month then you both get £40.
However if you go in yourself and open an account with a salary credit of at least £1000 per month then they will still give you £50.
You state that the switching service is very poor, did you open your account at the branch? or online or by post? In branches they give you a form to sign there and then which they send off to your other bank to close down that account.
However the 'losing' bank don't always play ball and will stall the transfer by either ignoring the transfer request or contact you to stay 'Please stay we think you are a very valuable customer' etc - has any of this happened to you?

  • Hi Eric,

Yes i opened the account at my local branch, but they were out of forms, which i accepted, but i was promised to get it through the post...nothing came for a month!!!
I went back to the branch, still no form, promised that my account m. give me a call...nothing... calling the Transfer Unit, knows nothing...no one knew anything!!!
So i wrote a letter to the Customer Care Manager.i`ve got a letter yesterday saying they were very sorry and arranged £25 to be credited onto my account... :T

And saying i`ll receive the form shortly through the post.
I`m impressed `cos the letter shows he took the time to investigate what went wrong, very professional!!! :D

And my "switching to lloyds" £40 is on his way... :rotfl:

I haven`t received anything from my previous bank,Halifax, but even if they offer me money i wouldn`t stay with them

Would bother filling in the forms. Had a bad time with their switching service - all they do is get the list from your old bank, then write to each company. Some move, some ignore the letter. And they list all the DDs on your account, so you can't tell which have moved.... I would really advise you to DIY & keep some cash in old account.

But that is the only bad thing I can say about them.
