Solicitors.........

.......well, the ones involved in my sale & purchase anyway, are SO frustrating!

Exchange is ready to happen, they have clear funds, signed contracts, all info back that they need, but they're just sitting on it. The buyer has even given them the go ahead.

It is so frustrating to know that things are ready and they just can't be bothered to do the legwork to finalise the deal.

I can sympathise! They seem to work at the pace of a snail on valium!

I'm a natural born worrier but we have been trying to get to exchange for the past 3 weeks and the earliest it can now happen is the middle of next week so I've still got a week of worrying that the whole thing will fall through ahead of me.

There's nothing we can do though - solicitors work their own way and no amount of chasing will change it!

Hi Sarah, thanks for your reply :)

Well now, according to the EA, the solicitor was trying all day to get hold of my buyer to arrange a completion date before exchanging.... I was told by the EA the night before that the solicitor was trying to push exchange through that evening - but how on earth could they do that if they didn't know a completion date? So I am now wondering if the EA is lying through their teeth to me to keep me happy and whether the solicitor actually does have the deposit in cleared funds.

Anyway, grrrrrrrrr! I am going in there today to find out what exactly is going on.

    Wish me luck!

our new builds we exchange without completion date so i would image that it is possible with normal house sales too, perhaps the E.A. and solicitors are not lying.with cleared funds the deposit funds usually come up the chain (so to speak) unless you are a FTByr so he maybe waiting for that to arrive in his account.
Im pretty sure that you should exchange today if thats what he said, stressful house moving !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
