when you can no longer super balance transfer ...

having used mint, egg and MNBA over this last 18 months to super balance to my bank accoount, i found myself stuck for other super balance transfer options ... instead i applied to capital one since they had zero charge on normal balance transfers and moved their very favourable o% credit limit onto my Mint and Amex cards, but neither card had any debt.
Given that my Mint and Amex cards had no debt on them i had expected I'd be purely loading them with credit with which I would have to consume with future spending to get the benifit of the 0%. I decided to phone both Mint and Amex to change my arm at asking for a refund of the now credit balance on their card. To my surprise they were very helpful and sent me a cheque for the credit amount within 5 days of the call.
So basically I ended up with the full credit limit from Capital One in my hand in the form of two cheques from Mint and Amex. i then lodged the cheques into my bank account and began to accumulate interest.
I really didn't think this was so easy! is this normal?

Another option, if you still have Egg, is to apply for another BT card and get it activated and "primed" for the BT. Wait 3 days and SBT from current account to Egg, and hopefully BT from new card will hit Egg a day or 2 later. Result is no high positive balance on Egg and a small amount (couple of quid max) of interest. Could work with MBNA cards as well, but will be a fee involved. Impact of fee will depend on limit given by new card.0

Excuse my ignorance, but SBT from current account to Egg? I thought that the SBT was when balance transferring capital directly from a credit card to the bank account, rather than the other way?0
