Can anyone explain to me why there is a gas conversion volume value in the BG gas bills - my simple knowledge of gases equate to - gases have a volume which is measured in either litres of m3 - which is what my gas meter measures. No one from Bg can explain why and as a scientist -I can't see any reason except to boost the usage amount up (that's just being cynical I know).

Oh - that old badger! - Thanks dellxps - good research skills - well at least I know its a regulatory thing but still prices go up by 2% and I don't see any reduction of 2% - so I may be right - anyone from BG or other gas supplier like to comment...

    No,

I've no idea how we can boil down the vagries of how a gas acts under temperature and pressure to a simple constant.
As it was introduced about 12 years ago, and they said that previously it was included in the price, it probably doesn't make much difference to the customer.
The suppliers probably need to include it if the gas they buy is at a different pressure to the customers house.

Now I'm off to pack ice rtound my gas meter*
    (*Not really, too much effort)
