Engine Light On

My engine management light has suddenly appeared on my Ford Focus 2002 and not sure whats wrong. The car drives normally.

My local garage did a diagnostic test and could not pinpoint the issue so he suggested to take it to a local Ford service centre.

Is this something that only Ford can resolve or is it worth calling around garages? I know Ford will charge a lot for their tests and I rather avoid them from past experiences.

Do you have RAC or AA membership, is so call them i used to be an RAC patrol
I used to go out to vehicles with MIL lights on all the time.

They sould come out and have a look, if you dont have membership find a local auto electrics garage they should be able to find out whats wrong, as a dealership will charge approx £30+ just to plug the computer in.

The light indicates that there has beed a fault with one of the sensors on the engine, normally vehicle is ok to drive if there is no loss of performance but only for a temp bassis.

    Hope this Helps

It's all academic now. Mr Mister decided to ignore the oil warning light and continue driving so the engine is now a useless lump of metal.

So, from engine management light on you've leapt to low oil level light and a knackered engine. Damn you're wasted, think of all the money you can make doing diagnosis' over the phone with your keen insight. Once again an aggressive and uncalled for post.
Ford garage is the place to go.

Actually, I think he is just quoting from another discussion thread where the OP reports having a low-oil-light, continuing driving, and the car not going much further ...

He is, but its the unnecessary sarcasm he instils in his unhelpful comments that we are referring to.....

If you don't like them, don't read them. If you can't handle sarcasm, perhaps you should go see a therapist to get a spine inserted.

Spine in. Unfortunately a person reads the post, then realises it's vitriol, that's how it works unless the reader is blessed (or cursed) with prescience, but you knew that, right?
