switching when you owe!

i have my gas and electric with separate companies. i did some investigating several months ago and i know i can get a better deal by switching. but i am quite behind on payment with npower. can they refuse to switch until i have settled up or will they allow the switch to go through and then chase with a closing bill?

Hi there. When we were with edf energy and we were slightly in arrears they refused to let us transfer to someone else. We had to settle our arrears and then move to another suppkier. I would imagine npower will be the same-though I could not tell you for certain.

No they can prevent you moving and almost certainly will do so.
When you are their customer they can force you to have a pre-pay meter. or cut you off.
If they let you leave they have lost any leverage.0 -
