Sony SLV-SE720 VCR - unable to tune in TV channels.

Hi, have just been given a Sony SLV-SE720 VCR - to replace my defunct Panasonic - without a user manual. Can anyone help me to find the manual for this or send me one in PDF format? I just don't seem to be able to set up the channels correctly or view tv channels through the VCR. The VideoPlus seems to work properly but the picture is all glittery as the channels are not tuned in on the VCR.

I found this site and used the instructions for the 720B and the 720G as they were the closest to the 720 model. I tried auto and manual install but it does not actually install, nothing happens when I press auto or manual install - the screen remains blank.
It plays videos ok and the videoplus seems to start and end recording when programmed but there is no sound or picture on the playback.
I am usually able to connect anything I buy without any problems but this has defeated me.
Thanks for you advise. Some Burke bloke quote: all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to say nothing. :silenced:0 -
Update at 09 March at 18:32
I checked the manual again and found out that I could reset it by pressing the "stop" button on the VCR for 5 secs and after that it automatically installed the channels. I don't know why it did not install from the on-screen menu.

Pleased you sorted it - maybe it was given to you because "it didn't work" (people play around with buttons and stuff). I've only recently replaced a 730 with a disk recorder - VCR was still working (gone to good home), just less convenient.0

I will shortly be getting a new PVR for the living room but will still use the VCR in the bedroom on my old non-digital TV. Although I have a digibox, I gave up trying to get my old VCR to record a digi channel whilst watching an analogue channel. I don't think I will even try with the sony as I don't wish to mess with the tuning as it is now recording analogue TV.
Thanks for your help,
