We bought a 5 bed house, double garage, driveway, front and rear gardens for £282k in 2003, Ashford, Kent. Worth around £340k now I think (Zoopla reckons £370k!). We spent 20k on a conservatory (using share proceeds, not extra mortgage.) Mortgage is about 184k now. Plan to MF by my 44th birthday, August 2014!

    Cheers,

    Drew.

3 beds, detached, freehold and have 4 reception rooms and a nice big garden for £78,000 in 2002 and have £64,000 left to pay should be mf in 14 years, hope when fixed rate is finished in 4 years to overpay as much as we can to reduce the years to get life sorted, but wonder why we bother as friends on benifts have mnore money at the end of the week, are ther to bring children up and they seem to be stress free whilst i am anackered and stressed!!!

  • Started out with £67000 in '99 on a 2 bed bungalow added conservatory and kitchen since and now have just under £81000 outstanding. We sold last week for £226000.

Only thing is we've no new house to move to!
  • Bought a 3 bed Detatched in Southport in 2003 for £ 125,000 now worth about £210,000. We have about 94,000 left to pay.

Now with a 16 month baby in tow and my wife at home looking after him I need to switch to interest only for a couple of years as we have used up all our savings. Although we are skint love the fact my wife is looking after the nipper and wouldn't want to put him in Childcare 9-5 5 days a week.

Will borrow about 7,000 grand to put the mortgage back up to £100,000 because we need to do repairs to the house.

What a wide and varied range of circumstances !!

I bought a one bedroom flat in zone 3 in London for £125,000 in 2002. Due to a couple of re-mortgages, I'm now up to £152,000 ...... Valued at £210,000 last August. I've got my head together now though and am making small overpayments on the mortgage and aim to clear a £7k personal loan by the end of the year. Then the mortgage 'gets it' ...... :rotfl:
